The purpose of this document is to show you, the user, how to backup your CMS files online.

This is done by editing the Backup Schedule in the System Configuration.

Setup Database to Backup Online

  • Don't forget to Save your configuration changes.
  • Ensure that the Tailwind Agent is running on the server computer. Look for a white icon with two circular arrows in the bottom right corner of your server's screen. If you don't see this icon, follow the steps in HOWTO: Install the Tailwind Agent.
  • Ensure that your server machine will be turned on and LOGGED IN at the time that the backup is scheduled. For security purposes, you may lock the computer, but do not log out or the backup will not run.

Days to Keep

  • Are the number of number of days the backup files will be back logged.
    • For example: If we have our database set to backup 7 days a week starting on Monday. CMS will keep record of the database backup from Monday through Friday. Then on Saturday our backup will overwrite the Monday backup. Thus we always have 5 versions of the database backed up each on a separate day.

Directory

  • Where the backup file will be saved.

image:Important-1.png NOTE:   Beside the Directory field there is a check box labeled Default. If this field is checked CMS will back up your database to a default destination. In most cases this will be in the SQL server files.

  • For Example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\Backup

Next Run Date

End Run Date

  • The date that backup schedule will no longer run. This means no backups will be performed after this date.
