Mitch Helten is the CEO of Tailwind. He is on
the phone with trucking companies everyday
talking about not just their software needs,
but also
about how their businesses are doing.
"What we're seeing, across the trucking industry, is a 25 - 30% decline in revenues. All over North America and in most sub-markets there is just less business being done." When is it going to be over? "Hard to say. Some people are looking for a turnaround in the later part of 2009 while others are not expecting much change before Q2 or Q3 of 2010. I am seeing some encouraging signs that we have probably hit bottom." What are smart truckers doing? "The ones who are still around are getting very efficient, very lean. They have cut their costs hard to stay in business at the current volumes. Like our clients, competitive companies are looking at their processes. Everything from booking an order to sending the bill and getting that bill paid. With business volume down getting your processes right is really about survival. Now, when the turnaround comes, the companies which have lean, efficient, high quality business procedures are going to have a terrific advantage. Their systems are going to let them move more freight and earn more moving it. Information is a huge part of the trucking business. Knowing that an order is complete when it is sent to dispatch and billed as quickly as possible is essential for a trucking company. Keeping track of your assets, paying your drivers, tracking expenses and doing all these things right can make a huge difference to your bottom line." |

"Our company was struggling. Although we
had plenty of customers, our accrual based
accounting system showed revenues were strong
and we were making a profit, we were still
struggling to pay our bills. We were burning
out worrying how we were going to pay our
vendors." writes Rosanne Wiesen, a
Tailwind client.
In a tough economy you can't afford to be your customers' bank. We want to share practical, proven ways of putting cash in your pocket where it belongs, so we've written a White Paper on how to take charge of your accounts receivable. Wiesen manages a trucking company, NW Shippers Inc., and has first hand experience with how managing A/R can make a huge difference to cash flow and the bottom line. Read the White Paper free of charge on our website to see step by step how NW Shippers became more profitable by utilizing all of the A/R features in Tailwind CMS. |

We know having to share CMS amongst your
staff wastes time and money. Have you been
wanting to have CMS available to all your
staff but the cost of adding users
discouraged you? This month we're passing on
fire-sale prices we've received from our
vendors to you. Take advantage of this
heavily-discounted price now, because when
the economy picks up, having extra users
means more growth and revenue. Give us a call
or send an email
soon to learn more.
